 Re-Framing Art Collections

Present economic conditions are holding many Art collectors from buying new works. Many are are now opting to re-frame some of their favourite works to revitalise them and give them a fresher look. Here is a sample of what  can be done.

Eamon Colman - Oil on canvas

Before
Oil on canvas framed in a 1” Tray Frame with a 5mm Gap.
This is a good choice from a contemporary perspective but perhaps a little lightweight for some tastes.

After
Same Oil on canvas, but framed with a champhered slip and 4” Flat frame.
Both slip and frame are gessoed with closed corners the gesso is then coloured with clay to suit and finished with a soft bees wax.
This makes the work look more complex giving it more weight and breathing space
