Mounting Works On Paper

There are many methods and techniques in mounting art and works on paper into frames. Many are familiar with window mounting which up until recent times has been perceived as a little old fashioned.
All trends in the last few years have been towards float mounting for box framing but there seems to be a swing back towards the older methods once again particularly with extra thick mountboard to give that museum quality to your work.

Why Conservation Mounting?

Conservation framing.
When asking to have your work mounted always ensure that you are getting acid free mounts and correct installation methods. Once you are satisfied with the quality and longevity of what you’re getting there are some other mounting methods that one might consider. This is the effect after time, a non acid free mounting can have on a picture.
Note the leaching of colour into the mount board causing the a shadow image to appear. Also the effect of hanging the work in light with the colour difference where the paper blocks the light.
